KSHETRA MAHIMAI OR THE DIVINITY OF PANCHAVATEE

Panchavatee kshetram where the 36 feet Panchamukha Sri Anjaneyaswamy has chosen His divine abode is located on the Tindivanam- Puducherry Highway in a village named Pappanchavadi. In Valmiki’s Srimad Ramayanam there is a special mention about two holy places known as Nasik and Panchavatee. These two holy places are located on the banks of River Godavari, in the state of Maharashtra which is well known to most devotees. It is a matter of great honor and pride that a Holy place named Panchavatee is also located in Tamilnadu, as mentioned in Srimath Ramayanam.

It must have been only through the divine wish of Sri Ramachandra Prabhu that a magnificent Temple has been established at Panchavatee kshetram, for Himself and His most ardent devotee Sri Anjaneyaswamy. At Panchavatee Lord Sri Rama manifests in all regal glory with His full Durbar with 10 Parivaram as described in the epics, along with Sri Sita Devi, Sri Lakshmanan, Sri Bharathan, Sri Shatrugnan, Sri Sugreevan, Sri Angadhan, Sri Jambavan, Sri Vibishanan and Sri Anjaneyaswamy. Sri Rama gives darshan to His devotees in this Pattabisheha Thirukolam not to be seen in any other kshetram in the world.

The awe inspiring 36 feet Viswaroopa Jayamangala Panchamukha Sri Anjaneyaswamy, Vigraham standing majestically and blessing the devotees is a special identify of this kshetram.

Sri Valampuri Mahaganapathi at this kshetram is known as the remover of all obstacles and bestower of success on all His devotees is yet another uniqueness of this kshetram.Panchavatee kshetram is hailed as a Prarthana kshetram as the good prayers and wishes of devotees are fulfilled at the earliest which is a distinct holy identify of this divine place.

As advised by the DevaPrashnam, Sri Ramani Iyer along with his associates participated in the early morning Poojas and offered prayers at Tirumala Sri Venkateswara Sannidhi on 18th August 1999 and commenced the divine work of constructing the temple at Panchavatee Sri Ramani Iyer and his associates felt the urgent need to form a Trust to take up the construction of the Temple at Panchavatee after duly worshipping at TIRUMALA.

PANCHAMUKHA SRI ANJANEYASWAMY AVATARAM

In the great Rama Ravana Yuddham, Ravana had lost all his warriors alongwith his kith and kin in the first day itself. Finally he had come face to face with Lord Rama Himself. It was a fight of epic proportions. Lord Sri Rama had totally disarmed Ravana. Humbled and defeated Ravana stood helpless in front of Lord Sri Rama. The epitome of mercy that He is Lord Rama advised Ravana to go back, recoup and return the next day. Even at this state, Ravana did not realize that yet another opportunity was being given to him by Lord Sri Rama in His infinite grace to reform. Instead, Ravana approached another powerful Asura Mayilravana for assistance.

At Ravana’s request Mayilravana thought of an evil Ritual in which Rama and Lakshmana would be offered as Human sacrifie. Vibishana sensed this plan and promptly informed Lord Rama who summoned Anjaneyaswamy to fail this plan.

Sri Rama blessed Hanuman and advised him to pray to Lord Narasimha, Lord Varahamurthy, Lord Hayagriva and Sri Garuda and seek their blessings. Pleased with the nobility of Anjaneyaswamy mission, each of them invesed in him with the powers specific to their form, thus enabling him to get the Panchamukha Swaroopam (or) Avataram.

Hanuman killed the evil Mayavi Mayilravana and helped Sri Rama to win the epic war. In appreciation of his total surrender or Sharanagathi Bhakthi and services, Sri Rama blessed Anjaneyaswamy to be an immortal or Chiranjeevi and any devotee worshipping Anjaneyaswamy in Panchamukha Swaroopam will have all his good prayers and dreams fulfilled and their families will be blessed for generations to come.

BENEFACTIONS OF SRI ANJANEYASWAMY

Sri Hanuman or Anjaneyaswami was born to Anjana Devi and Vayu Bhagwan in the Holy month of Margazhi or Dhanur Masa with Moola Nakshatram as His birth star.

The Puranas reveal that in acknowledgement of Sri Anjaneya Swamy’s Rama Bhakti and Rama Seva, the three hundred and thirty million Devas proclaimed that Sri Anjaneyaswamy in Panchamukha Swaroopam will be the Brahma for the next yuga.

In the Panchamukha Swaroopam, Lord Anjaneyaswami incorporates the combined attributes of Lord Narasimha, Sri Hayagriva, Lord Adivaraha, Sri Garuda and Sri Anjaneya himself. 36 FEET PANCHAMUKHA SRI ANJANEYASWAMY VIGRAHAM

The Prasnam had advised that the moola Vigraham of Panchamukha Sri Anjaneyaswami should be 36 feet tall. Sri Ramani Anna and his friends met Padmasri Muthiah Sthapathiar, a pious and renowned sculptor, who had brought out the 32 feet Anjaneya Swami Vigraham at Nanganallur. Padmashri Muthiah Sthapathiar readily agreed to take up the Sri Anjaneyaswami Vigraham. The magnitude of this project can be gauged by the fact that a 36 feet majestic idol with different faces in different directions, 10 hands and ornamentations and objects, appropriate to each facet of the Lord’s grace had to evolve out of a single granite stone that would have to be measuring over 40 feet in length.

By the grace of Lord Sri Rama, at about the same time as Sri Muthiah Stapathiar was entrusted with the responsibility to sculpt the moola Vigraham, one Sri Perumal halling from Sirudamur Village near Walajabad in Kancheepuram District reported the existence of a huge stone in his land.

This stone was transported to the sculpture center in ECR and took two years to sculpt the vigrahams and installation was done by L&T group.
